Karl Anuta '85 is a partner in the Portland firm of Sokol and Anuta. During his 17 years of environmental litigation practice, he has set numerous legal precedents as lead counsel in water and forest law cases, including successfully opposing the Salt Caves Dam project on Oregon’s Upper Klamath River, upholding the designation of the upper Klamath as a wild and scenic river, and forcing EPA to implement Clean Water Act TMDL (total maximum daily load) standards in Oregon. Karl was an adjunct professor of Environmental Litigation at Lewis & Clark Law School from 1993 to 1999. He has held numerous officer positions on the board of the Northwest Environmental Defense Center during his 17-year term, currently serving as president. He is also a long-term board member of Waterwatch of Oregon, Pacific Rivers Council, and Friends of Mount Hood.
