Spring Internship with Marine Conservation Biology Institute The Marine Conservation Biology Institute is a nonprofit that seeks to protect and restore the Earth's biodiversity and advance the science of marine conservation biology. MCBI offers interns the opportunity to work closely with our science and policy staff and to gain important skills in conservation advocacy and exposure to the scientific, legal and political arenas that are involved in marine conservation. The Spring Internship is a paid position and will work on key issues in ocean policy.
Animal Law Clerkship Colorado attorney seeks third year for part-time law clerk to work remotely. Please send recent writing sample (less than 10 pages) along with your interest in animal law, resume and transcript. Law clerk will perform research and write internal legal memos related to animal rights law (mostly companion animal related but not always) and should be able to think outside the box. Clerk will also be asked to analyze potential cases for possible causes of action and what damages might apply. Mostly Colorado law but will have some work related to federal statutes as well. |

Volunteer Research Project The Center for the Expansion of Fundamental Right's "Nonhuman Rights Project" Needs You. Preparation for complex litigation - intended for the first time to establish a legal right for a nonhuman animal - is in its third year. There have been 21 researchers, including law students and lawyers. At present we have nine, scattered all over the United States. Some are pure volunteers. Some are receiving independent study credit. Some are fulfilling pro bono requirements. They are usually from top law schools and are researching a wide variety of legal and non-legal issues, conducting interviews, preparing surveys, devising appropriate computer algorithms, and much more. We need an array of different experiences and skills. Applicant should be a superb student, topnotch in either research or analysis, self-motivated and can accomplish much with little close supervision. A background in statistical analysis and/or social science research is a plus, especially if the student has a graduate degree in this area. Defenders of Wildlife Summer Law Clerk (D.C.) Position Description Defenders of Wildlife’s staff is comprised of a variety of wildlife experts, including a legal team with a successful record at the forefront of wildlife law and legal advocacy. The Conservation Law division offers summer clerkships to select law students with a commitment to wildlife conservation. This position is designed to provide a wide range of legal, programmatic, and administrative experience relating to conservation issues of national significance. The clerkship program covers a diverse range of environmental issues from endangered species to federal lands management, and is a terrific opportunity for law students dedicated to conservation and wildlife law. Please note that this is an unpaid internship. Students are encouraged to seek funding opportunities through their schools or outside sources. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct research and writing for our Conservation Law program, and perform all other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Current law student status (1L or 2L) Experience: Interest/experience in environmental issues; other experience relevant to the mission of Defenders of Wildlife Other Qualifications: Strong writing, research, and verbal communications skills. |
