NEW EVENTS
-9/18-9/20, Portland: In Defense of Animals (IDA) will be educating circus-goers at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus about the cruelty of forcing wild animals to perform and the reality of the circus. Ringling was forced into federal court recently to defend themselves against charges of violating the Endangered Species Act for beating and chaining elephants.
IDA will be hosting peaceful education outreach at each of Ringling’s eightshows, continuing through Sunday September 20th. They are also looking for videographers to document the elephant walk when Ringling walks their elephants from the train to the arena, and then back again after the last performance.

Friday, Sept 18th, 6:00 pm
Saturday, Sept 19th, 10:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 6:00 pm Sunday, Sept 20th, 10:00 am,and 2:00 pm

-Puppy Friendly Pet Store SWAT Team: HSUS has launched a Puppy Friendly Pet Store initiative and is looking for folks who would be interested in working with them to reach out to pet stores (e.g., any non-chain retailer that sells pet supplies and that don’t sell puppies). If you are interested in signing up, please contact the Puppy Mills campaign at stoppuppymills@hsus.org to get started
