A 2007 survey of 6,209 middle and high school students found that…
- Nearly 9 out of 10 LGBT students experienced harassment at school in the past year.
- Three-fifths felt unsafe at school because of their sexual orientation
- About 1/3 skipped a day of school in the past month because of feeling unsafe
- 86.2% of LGBT students reported being verbally harassed, 44.1% reported being physically harassed and 22.1% reported being physically assaulted at school in the past year because of their sexual orientation (GLSEN – National School Climate Survey, 2007)

Come join us to learn tools and resources to assist you in effectively developing LGBT-related initiatives in your schools or local communities to make schools safer and more affirming for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students. This seminar is free and open to all students. If possible, bring a laptop so you can access GLSEN’s internet content during the seminar. There will also be free bagels and coffee and no registration is required!!
