Come watch “Who Owns the Past?” in celebration of Native Heritage Month. “Who Owns the Past?” examines how two ways of seeing the world - scientific versus traditional - clash in the discovery of a 9,000 year old skeleton on ancestral Indian lands near Kennewick, Washington. Questions and debates surrounding who has ownership over these findings and what they mean to different communities have created tension among Native and anthropologist groups. The outcomes of this controversy have implications in terms of Indian sovereignty over their past and their future in the 21st century.
