Room 4

Stella Manabe will be here to talk about the importance of building a community.

Since 1998, Manabe has strived to increase the diversity of the Oregon bench and bar to reflect the diversity of the people of Oregon, by educating attorneys about the cultural richness and diversity of the clients they serve, and by removing barriers to justice. Manabe received the 2003 American Bar Association “Spirit of Excellence” Award, for her development of “Opportunities for Law in Oregon” (OLIO), a three-day retreat held each fall that introduces entering first year minority law students, from all three Oregon law schools, to second and third year law students, new and experienced lawyers, and judges.

Manabe’s dedication has impacted several generations of Oregon law students.
