Zbigniew Brzezinski, a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, was National Security Adviser to President Carter. As the editor of Foreign Affairs writes, “When it comes to what might be called the “philosophy” of foreign policy…no statesman of Brzezinski’s generation is in his league.” Dr. Brzezinski is currently a counselor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a frequent Lehrer News Hour foreign affairs analyst, and author of numerous books on international relations.
