In his recent travels to Scotland, Lewis & Clark College professor of music Gil Seeley met Anne Martin, a traditional singer, and Ingrid Henderson, a harpist from the Isle of Skye. He was transfixed by their music-making and has invited these revered Scottish musicians to join us for a truly unique performance with traditional Celtic instruments and songs. The Celtic tale is woven through music from Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Cornwall, Brittany, Spain and Nova Scotia, including music for bagpipe and choir.

Oregon Repertory Singers is an internationally recognized 65-voice ensemble founded in 1974 and led by Artistic Director Gilbert Seeley. ORS performs an extensive choral repertoire with a special emphasis on new music by American composers. Recently named “Choir in Residence” at Lewis & Clark College, the chorus is well known for its “impeccable dynamics,” “a fine blend and sense of style,” “a clear, unforced sound,” and “a tradition of offering unheard-of delights.” The Oregonian Arts Commission News writes, “Under (Seeley’s) direction ORS has become a top-tanked choral ensemble through its unsurpassed interpretations of music that crosses international, cultural, and time boundaries.” Performances are consistently met with the highest praise: “This is choral programming at its best.” -The Oregonian
