Once Upon A Weekend

Once Upon a Weekend is a project sponsored by the Theatre Department and (Pause.), the Lewis & Clark College student journal of dramatic writing. On the Monday before production, a theme is chosen and posted. Students have an opportunity to compose a short play from this prompt. On the Thursday before production, the plays are selected, along with the student-directors, and by Friday the plays are cast. On Saturday the plays are rehearsed for a 10 p.m. curtain.

Anna in the Tropics

Anna in the Tropics is a poignant and poetic new play set in Florida in 1929 in a Cuban-American cigar factory, where cigars are still rolled by hand and “lectors” are employed to educate and entertain the workers. The arrival of a new lector is a cause for celebration, but when he begins to read aloud from Anna Karenina, he unwittingly becomes a catalyst in the lives of his avid listeners, for whom Tolstoy, the tropics and the American dream prove a volatile combination.

Box Office hours are 1 p.m.-5 p.m., and one hour before performances.
