Oregon Repertory Singers
Date: April 22 2007 Location: -
Welcome the warm days of spring with a concert featuring French composer Maurice Durufle’s masterpiece, “Requiem” for choir and orchestra. Also, a new work by a very special American composer will be performed.
Oregon Repertory Singers is an internationally recognized 65-voice ensemble founded in 1974 and led by Artistic Director Gilbert Seeley. ORS performs an extensive choral repertoire with a special emphasis on new music by American composers. Recently named “Choir in Residence” at Lewis & Clark College, the chorus is well known for its “impeccable dynamics,” “a fine blend and sense of style,” “a clear, unforced sound,” and “a tradition of offering unheard-of delights” The Oregonian.
The Oregonian Arts Commission News writes, “Under (Seeley’s) direction ORS has become a top-ranked choral ensemble through its unsurpassed interpretations of music that crosses international, cultural, and time boundaries.” Performances are consistently met with the highest praise: “This is choral programming at its best” The Oregonian.
A limited number of complimentary ticket vouchers are available for the Lewis & Clark College community at the College Bookstore. The tickets vouchers must be exchanged for tickets from the Oregon Repertory Singers, 503 230-0752.
