Jessup Update: Regional Round, Day 2

The L&C Jessup Moot Court team put in another fantastic day of argument at the super-regional competition in Washington, DC.  A victory in the quarterfinals earned the team a spot in Sunday’s semifinal competition, and the team received high awards for both oral argument and brief writing.  Well done, team!

Congratulations to the L&C Jessup International Moot Court team for a stunning performance at the second day of the Mid-Atlantic super-regional competition in Washington, DC.  The day began with the team’s Applicants matching up against Penn.  It was a very close match, with excellent arguments on both sides.  At 1:00 pm the Respondents faced off against the University of Pittsburgh. One of the judges actually pulled out a 40-year-old copy of the Geneva Conventions to follow along during argument. Both sides were exceptional.

These performances won the team a 5th place ranking and a spot in the quarterfinals, which were held later that afternoon.  For the quarterfinal round, the team’s Applicants went head-to-head with Seton Hall, and came out with yet another victory, advancing to the semifinal round, which will be held on Sunday.

The team’s excellent performances earned them high recognition in the awards ceremony.  In aggregate, the team’s two briefs were ranked 7th overall.  Emerson Lennon tied for 11th best oralist; Dan Rowan won 3rd best oralist, and Joe Terrenzio won best oralist overall.

Congratulations to the whole team, you make Lewis & Clark proud!  Keep up the good work on Sunday; bonne chance et bon courage!
