Remy Neymarc Video Wins in Barcelona!
Congratulations to Remy Neymarc ’12! Neymarc and his brother Andrew won both first and second place for videos they produced for the American Red Cross in the advertisement competition at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona Video Competition held in Spain on February 14-17, 2011.
Neymarc was flown to Barcelona just two weeks after submitting the videos. While there he met with award-winning directors and producers, including Jonathan Ross, a popular British television presenter. The brothers were also feted at receptions and dinners, met with the MOFILM team and with representatives from the American Red Cross. The video festival was extremely competitive with more than 1000 submissions overall.
Neymarc, a TCK (third culture kid) from Paris, France and a junior at Lewis & Clark College, became interested in photography when he was in high school. At Lewis & Clark, Neymarc continued his craft and quickly established a reputation as a talented and prolific photographer “with a good eye” and “extraordinary technique.” Neymarc sold his photographs not only around campus, but in Portland and internationally. He soon published his portfolio on his own website.
In his sophomore year, Neymarc ventured into video production with his brother. The two were contracted by the College’s Athletics Department to produce sports videos. Their video featuring the College crew team, published on YouTube, caught the attention of Don Hahn, a well-known Disney producer (The Lion King, Atlantis and Beauty and the Beast).
Hahn contacted Neymarc and his brother and asked to see more of their work. He encouraged the young men to continue their craft and admitted that he was “a big fan.” Hahn’s encouraging words indirectly led the pair to enter the competition in Barcelona.
Neymarc plans to finish his degree at Lewis & Clark in May 2012. His dream is to create a video production company with his brother in Hollywood. Given his success thus far, it is a dream that could definitely come true.
