Photos from Multicultural Fair celebrate diversity on campus

The Multicultural Fair is an annual event put on by the students of Akin Hall, Campus Living, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.

The Multicultural Fair is an annual event put on by the students of Akin Hall, Campus Living, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.  Akin, the Multicultural themed community on campus, celebrates the rich heritage brought to the college by the diverse experiences of students through events like the Multicultural Fair in the fall and the International Fair in the spring.

This year’s Multicultural Fair happened on Saturday, September 27th from 10am-2pm.  4 weeks of planning with students from Akin and around campus culminated in 3 consecutive nights of rigorous cooking, from 4 pm until past midnight.  Students worked in groups to plan and prepare cultural cuisines from Southeast Asia, China, Japan, England, France, Latin America, Alaskan-Native, and Taiwan.

In addition to delicious food options from around the globe, the event also featured traditional folk song, Bollywood and folk dancing, as well as a Diversity/Identity discussion.  With 75 students involved in making the event happen and 350+ in attendance throughout the course of the day, this year’s Multicultural Fair was a huge success!

The following photos are a peek into this year’s multi cultural fair. Enjoy.

Many thanks to all involved,
