New AVP for Finance announced

Dear Members of the Lewis & Clark Community,

Dear Members of the Lewis & Clark Community,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. George Battistel has agreed to become the next Associate Vice President for Finance and Controller.

A native of British Columbia, George comes to Lewis & Clark from the University of Portland, where he has been the Controller for the past two years and a Professor of Accounting for seven years. George brings to the job many years of experience as a professor, consultant, controller, and auditor. He received his BA in Economics and Commerce from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., his M.BA in Finance from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C., and his PhD in Accounting from the University of Oregon. George has also earned his Certified General Accountant (CGA) credential, which is similar to the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential in the U.S. We are very pleased that George will be joining the Business Office team on August 1, 2008.

I want to express my appreciation to everyone involved in the interview process, and to thank Bill Schaeffer for the all of his contributions over the past seven years.

We look forward to George’s arrival and have every confidence that he will help the Business Office to continue their great service to the Lewis & Clark community.

Sincerely,
Carl B. Vance
VP for Business and Finance/Treasurer
