John Kodachi ‘92 is the founder of Kodachi Law, a law firm with offices in Portland and Seattle focusing on business, employment, and immigration.   John regularly advises both domestic and international businesses, including high-technology companies and manufacturers, and is legal counsel for the Consulate General of Japan in Portland. 

Prior to starting his own firm in 2008, John was of counsel to the law firm Bullivant Houser Bailey, P.C.  Additionally, he was an associate at the law firms of Kell, Alterman & Runstein and Kobayshi, Sugita & Goda.  Having practiced for eighteen years, John is admitted in Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii.

John joined the Alumni Board in 2004 and has served in several capacities, including Alumni Board president.  Born and raised in Portland, John also serves on the board of several community-related  non-profits organizations, including the Portland Chapter of the Japanese Americans Citizens League, which is the oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization in the country.

John is a 1992 graduate of Lewis & Clark Law School and received his undergraduate degree from Oberlin College in 1988.
