Animal Law Review to hold inaugural symposium on international issues

On behalf of Animal Law Review, the Center for Animal Law Studies is happy to announce that an inaugural symposium will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011, at Lewis & Clark Law School.  This inaugural symposium will address important issues regarding international animal law and will feature four renowned speakers.

The Animal Law Review Symposium will feature some of the leading voices in international animal law, with presentations by:

  • David Cassuto, Professor of Law, Pace Law School - Hot, Cruel, and Legal: A Look at Industrial Agriculture and Climate Change in the U.S. & Brazil

  • Maneesha Deckha, Professor of Law, University of Victoria, Faculty of Law  - Critical Animal Studies and Animal Law

  • David Favre, Professor of Law, Michigan State University College of Law - Is an International Treaty for Animal Welfare Needed and Possible?

  • Peter Sankoff, Associate Professor of Law, University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law - Animal Welfare Law and the Concept of Dialogue: Can Welfare Law Simultaneously Fail and Succeed?
