Two journalists who spent time in Iraq, a poet who worked for the United Nations in Cambodia, and a Vietnam War veteran who studies William Stafford’s poetry were among the eclectic group of presenters at the sixth annual William Stafford Symposium, held March 2–4.

Titled “Millions of Intricate Moves: Artistic and Spiritual Responses to War and Peace,” the symposium asked participants to reflect on their own spiritual and artistic responses to war and peace after hearing the personal and historical narratives of others.

Art, film, music, photography, and spoken word provided context for a series of discussions and guided writing sessions during the three-day event.
