Lewis & Clark enjoys a strong reputation in science research. This fall, two members of the science faculty received noteworthy awards from leading funding agencies.

James Proctor, professor and director of environmental studies, has received a $300,000 grant over three years from the Mellon Foundation. The grant will help the College enhance its interdisciplinary approach to environmental studies, drawing on important connections among the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities.

Liz Safran, associate professor of geological science, received a $78,184 grant from the National Science Foundation for her project, “Impact of Extrafluvial Events on River Valley Evolution.”
