President’s Scholarship for Student Engagement

January 16, 2012

President Glassner has appointed three emeriti faculty to review and recommend to him applicants for the President’s Scholarship for Student Engagement. They are Nicole Aas-Rouxparis, Professor Emerita of French; Roger Nelsen, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics; and Jean Ward, Professor Emerita of Communication. The three were chosen for this honor because of the commitment they continue to demonstrate to the College’s liberal arts mission.

The scholarship provides funds for two $10,000 scholarships to be awarded to students with sophomore standing in 2011/12 for use in their junior year. Faculty members are invited to nominate by January 27, 2012 sophomore students whose engagement in their liberal arts experience inside and outside the classroom is of such high quality and visibility as to be exemplary for their peers. Students must have a GPA of 3.25 or better to qualify.

Professors Aas-Rouxparis, Nelsen, and Ward will review and recommend applicants to the President for selection as scholarship awardees. Awards are renewable for the senior year based on continued excellence, making this a $20,000 scholarship.
