Coming Soon: Remote Desktop Support with Bomgar
January 25, 2012
IT support is coming directly to your desktop! This Spring, IT is rolling out a new way to support our campus community with Bomgar, a state-of-the-art remote assistance platform. This will enable IT to—with client permission—remotely access, diagnose, control, and fix attended and unattended computers and mobile devices.
During the Fall semester, a committee within Information Technology explored a variety of remote desktop support solutions. The committee chose Bomgar, which provides a solid combination of security, easy setup, and a wide range of features. Expanding upon our phone and on-site support, IT will be able to set up live support sessions with clients via the web, sharing the client’s display to more accurately diagnose and troubleshoot errors. While in screen sharing mode, clients remain in control of their desktop, and may terminate the connection at any time.
In the coming months, we will begin integrating Bomgar into our support system, and, as always, feedback from our community is welcome! Visit www.bomgar.com for more information about Bomgar and its features, and stay tuned for more dynamic and flexible support from your IT staff.
