Johanson serves as Composer-in-Residence at music festival

Michael Johanson, Assistant Professor of Music Composition, is the 2012 Composer-in-Residence at the Jubilus Festival in Gainesville, Florida.

Michael Johanson, Assistant Professor of Music Composition, is the 2012 Composer-in-Residence at the Jubilus Festival in Gainesville, Florida.

During Johanson’s residency, five of his compositions will be rehearsed and performed in concert—Evocations, a work for horn solo; Earth Dweller, a work for full chorus; Two Settings of Baudelaire, a work for soprano and piano; Memento, a work for saxophone and organ; and Toccata, a work for saxophone and piano.

In addition, Johanson is working on a music education outreach program and competition designed to foster the development of young composers in Florida’s Alachua County.
