There are a few simple steps to adding news:

  1. go to the LiveWhale control center (via the “Manage My Content” link atop any page once you are logged in)
  2. click the News tab
  3. click “Add a New Story”
  4. give a title
  5. give it “story body” text unless there is link to an external news story, say at the Oregonian.  Then you just give it a link.
  6. give it a summary.  When in doubt, this can be just the first sentence of the body text.
  7. give it a Tag if necessary that could be used to filter a group of connected stories together.  For example, all stories about a particular lab could have the lab’s name as a Tag, which could then be used in a LiveWhale Widget to pull only those News stories onto that lab’s webpage.
  8. Optional: you can suggest the story to other offices, departments, etc. that you feel would be interested in posting this story on their webpages as well. For more on this, se http://www.lclark.edu/new_media/faq/answer/?id=1659
  9. hit submit!

Note: you will also want to post the story as “Live” once you feel it is ready to be viewable to the public online.

Further, you can add images, links, attach downloads, and provide contact info for your story as well.
