BCMB Alumnus Honored with NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

Zach Wilson, a 2010 honors BCMB graduate, received a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship. These prestigious fellowships are awarded to outstanding students who have the potential to contribute significantly to research, teaching, and innovations in science. NSF Graduate Research Fellowships provide three years of graduate support.
While at Lewis & Clark, Zach pursued honors research with Dr. Niko Loening. After graduation, Zach began working in research in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Oregon Health & Science University. Zach is the first author of a study recently published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry in which the pyrimidine biosynthetic and salvage pathway of the protozoan parasite Leishmania donovani is dissected. In September, Zach will begin pursuing a PhD in the Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
