1980

Gerald Lenocker BA left Microsoft in 2003, started a new career as a high school teacher in 2006, and became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2011.

1981

Mark Demaray JD is president of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys for 2011–12.

Sharon Graugnard-Fall B.A. founded the Art of Giving, an online gallery that directs proceeds from art and jewelry sales to four charities.

Christine Kitchel JD spent two months as a volunteer lawyer in Kenya. Kitchel is a partner in the firm Stoel Rives. She used her sabbatical to work with Lawyers Without Borders and wrote a daily blog describing her Kenyan experiences.

1982

Alison Newman Myers BA is looking forward to her June class reunion. After graduating with a BA in English, she earned a graduate degree in early childhood education. She is now a therapeutic program manager for a nonprofit child abuse prevention agency in Linn County, Oregon. She lives in Corvallis with her husband and a daughter.

Dana Plautz BS is a member of the class of 1982 reunion planning committee. She’s having a blast and looks forward to reconnecting with more old friends.

1983

Michael Moore JD is the founder of Moore’s Law in Milwaukee. He focuses on marketing, client development, and leadership coaching for attorneys at all experience levels. His article, “Part 1: The Work/Life Balancing Act: Women Lawyers Walking the Tightrope,” can be found online.

1984

Phillip Grillo JD, an experienced land use attorney, joined Davis Wright Tremaine as a partner.

Michael Lawler B.A. is dean of the School of Health Sciences at the University of South Dakota. He earned his PhD in human development from the University of California at Davis and his M.S.W. from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a licensed clinical social worker. He and his wife, Kimberly, have an adult son attending college.

Kathryn Root J.D. is vice chair of the International Law Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Family Law for 2011–12. She is the partner in charge at the Portland office of McKinley Irvin.

1985

Jeff Eden JD joined the firm of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in Portland. He focuses on products liability litigation.

David Ernst JD joined Davis Wright Tremaine as a partner in its national hospitality practice.

Lisa LeSage JD left her position as associate dean for business law programs at Lewis & Clark Law School in January to take the newly created position of legal advisor to the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative. Based in Istanbul, Turkey, she works on ruleof- law projects in the emerging democracies of Africa and the Middle East. These projects relate to access to justice, legal education reform, legal profession reform, human rights, and women’s rights.

Robert Lowry JD was named of counsel at Kell Alterman & Runstein in Portland. His practice focuses on environmental law and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on fraud and civil racketeering cases.

1986

Daniel Cole J.D. is professor of law and public and environmental affairs at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

1987

Charles “Chip” Bury BA has lived half his life in Kenya. He has been married for six years; has one child, Njambi, 4; and is adopting Daniel Wambugu, 1. Bury works supporting orphans and vulnerable children throughout East Africa.

Robert Macchia JD joined the New York City office of Litchfield Cavo as partner.

Carol Timm B.A. enjoys life in beautiful Portland with her husband, Geoff Owen ’91, JD ’01, and two active boys, Will and Sacha. When not practicing law for a large Silicon Valley–based firm, she channels her inner athlete via a women’s tennis team. She looks forward to seeing all of her classmates at the June reunion.

Leslie Thatcher Wales BA lives in Holden, Massachusetts. She is the freshman class dean, assistant director of admissions, and orientation coordinator for Worcester Academy, a day/boarding school. She has two children still at home, Anna and Whit; two stepsons; and a new granddaughter. Her husband, Whit, fills his time with filmmaking and theatre.

1988

Judge Robert Conover JD was appointed to the Lane County Circuit Court in Eugene, Oregon.

Robert Demary JD joined Gevurtz Menashe as a shareholder.

1989

Scott Anders JD joined the firm of Jordan Ramis in its Vancouver, Washington, office as of counsel.

Jeffrey Lewis JD is the COO for Employee Health Insurance Management.

Arthur “Aldy” Milliken BS is executive director and chief curator of the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft. He also owns and directs the Milliken Gallery in Stockholm, Sweden.

Marcia Stanard CAS was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist minister by the First Unitarian Church of Portland in November. Last spring, she received her M.Div. from Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago. Stanard lives in Portland with daughters Mika, 13, and Marcella, 10. She serves as consulting minister for the Wy’east Unitarian Universalist Congregation.

Allison Wing Takahashi BA launched Giggle, a company that sells organic clothing, equipment, and other baby products, in California. Now based in New York, the company has a corporate staff of 40 with 120 employees in the field.
