Symantec Endpoint Protection Upgrade

All institutionally managed Windows computers will have their Symantec Endpoint Protection upgraded this week!

SEP version 12 not only contains malware prevention and detection, it now has more security features to defend against zero day attacks.  Zero day attacks are those occurring in the wild without there being a “fix” or software patch for the hole in the software.

Look for the Symantec Management Client message before the upgrade occurs, it will say:

Symantec Management Client has detected that a newer version of the software is available from the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.  Do you wish to download it now?

STOP!  SAVE ALL WORK! Your Symantec Endpoint Protection will be upgraded. This requires a REBOOT.  Questions: infosec@lclark.edu

Mac users and off-site Windows users (ie: LC-owned computer at home) must download and run the Staff Installer manually.

 

Students are eligible to install Symantec Endpoint Protection while currently enrolled.
