Sara Bowersox ‘90 and her husband, Morgan Beller, live in Portland with their daughter, Annastasia, 2. Bowersox works in trade compliance for Dr. Martens AirWair USA and is a licensed U.S. customs broker.

 

Maureen Breckenridge JD ‘90 was elected to the board of Portland Community College for its Washington County zone.

 

Brian Burton JD ‘90 is now associate general counsel for Freightliner. He manages the company’s product litigation and employment litigation groups.

 

Robin Stevens Carkner ‘90 lives in West Linn with her husband, Jeff Carkner ‘88, and their son, 8, and daughter, 2. She is a residency coordinator in radiology at Oregon Health & Science University.

 

Nicola Clark ‘90 has moved from Paris to Hong Kong, where she coedits the business Asia section of the International Herald Tribune with her husband, David Jolly.

 

Carrie Bonner Compton ‘90, MAT ‘95 teaches eighth-grade language arts and American history in Camarillo, California.

 

Suzanne Kempinski Donavin ‘90 has two children, Kelsey Anne, born in 1997, and Margaret Elizabeth, born in 2000.

 

Elizabeth Grant JD ‘90 now works for the Oregon Department of Justice. She is assistant attorney general in the charitable activities section of the Civil Enforcement Division.

 

Peter Lee ‘90 lives in Hawaii’s Nuuanu Pali mountain pass with his wife and their dog. He is an attorney in private practice and a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

 

Valerie Prothero ‘90 works part time as a conference manager in the Department of Extended Studies at Portland State University. Prothero lives in West Linn with her husband, Tim, and their daughter, June, 3.

 

Richard Rogers ‘90 is director of marketing for KPMG. He lives in San Francisco and has finally perfected the making of the Reuben sandwich.

 

Kristin Rogers-Lennarz ‘90 works in Internet marketing for U.S. brands at Colgate-Palmolive. She and her husband, Matt, live in New York with their two children.

 

Laura Kaelke Schroeder ‘90 lives in Germany with her husband, Ralf. She continues to work at PeopleSoft and for the past two years has been involved in product strategy for central Europe.

 

Liane Hilling Shah ‘90 became managing director of Portland’s CoHo Productions in August 2003. Her previous theatre and box office management experience includes work for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Portland and Tygres Heart Shakspeare Company.

 

Laura Whittemore ‘90 traveled this summer to Alaska’s Denali National Park and Fairbanks, Alaska, the hometown of her boyfriend, Matt Lynch. They live in Portland, where Whittemore works as an environmental educator and a salesperson at the Backyard Bird Shop.

Julie Carter ‘91, LLM ‘03 is a policy analyst with the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission.

 

Kathryn Pohs Hall ‘91, MAT ‘94, JD ‘03 recently passed the bar exam. Before attending law school, she taught for four years. She and her husband, Matt Hall, married in 1996. They breed and raise Hanoverian horses.

 

Gregor “Greg” McCole ‘91 and Ashley Newman McCole ‘96 met in Lewis & Clark’s Stewart Hall in 1987. They dated for a while and then, after a brief departure on Ashley’s part, they reconnected when she returned to the College. They married in May 1998.

 

Deborah Ng-Furuhashi ‘91 is a trust officer at First Hawaiian Bank in Honolulu. She is married to James Furuhashi ‘92.

 

Takamichi Sekine JD ‘91 recently won a major environmental case in Japan. The Naha District Court ordered former Okinawa Governor Masahide Ota to pay approximately 328 million yen ($3 million) in damages to an environmental group. The governor was charged with illegally implementing development projects in an area inhabited by rare birds.

 

Steven Yuster ‘91 is a trial lawyer at Bragg, Serota & Kuluva, an insurance defense firm in Los Angeles. He and his wife recently bought a new home in Toluca Lake.

 

1992

Sarah Carter ‘92 earned a master’s degree in fisheries from the University of Washington and is now assistant director at the University of Wisconsin Center for Limnology in Madison.

 

Amy Cervino ‘92 completed a master’s degree in public administration at the University of Utah in December. She lives in Salt Lake City with her husband, Peter, and their three children.

 

Jennifer Brown Clemente ‘92 recently marked her third anniversary living in San Francisco and working in public relations at IBM.

 

Mitchell Elrod ‘92 works in the insurance business. He lives in La Center, Washington, with his wife, Yvette Rose.

 

James Furuhashi ‘92 is a historic preservation architect for the Department of Defense at Pearl Harbor. He is married toDeborah Ng-Furuhashi ‘91.

 

Lori Geffner-Mostafa ‘92 lives in West Los Angeles with her husband, Mahmoud.

 

Holly Hanna ‘92 has returned to the Pacific Northwest, where she works for a consulting firm on a long-term project at a Large Software Company That Shall Remain Nameless.

 

Heather Hess-Lindquist ‘92 is vice president of the Egyptian Theatre Foundation board of directors. She has served the board for four years and chairs the committee for finance and development. In 2001, she became an adjunct professor at the John B. Goddard School of Business and Economics at Weber State University, where she teaches personal finance. Last April, Hess-Lindquist joined the board of the Utah Musical Theatre Association.

 

Arlene Kwasniak LLM ‘92 is now an assistant law professor at the University of Calgary.

 

Donald Lien ‘92 coaches baseball at West Albany High School. The team made the state playoffs for the first time in 41 years during the 2002 season and also won the state American Legion A championship that year. A nationally recognized expert on speed and quickness, Lien developed training programs for major league teams and for summer clinics across the country.

 

Charlotte Nytzen ‘92 owns Baby Birds Music, a small business that provides private voice lessons, and also offers singing, dancing, and instrument exploration classes for caregivers, babies, and young children.

 

Miriam “Rene” Ormae-Jarmer ‘92 has taught private drum and piano lessons and has a band called Here Comes Everybody.

 

Jennifer Castle Rotar ‘92 moved to Boulder, Colorado, in 1994 and married Dan Rotar in 1996. After five years as a Web development supervisor for EchoStar communications, she is happy to be a new stay-at-home mom.

 

Adrienne Benson Scherger ‘92 does freelance writing and editing for nongovernmental organizations in Tirana, Albania, where her husband, Michael, is an administrative officer for the Peace Corps. They have a son, Miles.

 

Andrew “Drew” Williams ‘92 manages the computer network at Wausau-Mosinee Paper’s Mosinee mill. He lives in Wausau, Wisconsin, with wife Mary, daughter Emma Jane, son Seth Andrew, and stepson Nick.

 

1993

Remi Baptiste JD ‘93, whose practice focuses on corporate and general business law, has joined the Portland office of Black Helterline as a partner.

 

Renne Brock-Richmond ‘93 calls on her ability as a fine artist and instructor to create custom Web sites for clients. She began her company in Washington after six years as an instructor in the art department of Monterey Peninsula College. She continues to promote creative education and inclusive community participation in the arts.

 

Kelly “Shark” McAuley Cross ‘93 lives in Redlands, California, and works for San Bernardino County. She and her husband are renovating a 1924 bungalow duplex.

 

Jodi Eichelberger ‘93 is a cast member in the Broadway musical Avenue Q, which opened in July 2003.

 

Mark Froehlich ‘93 lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he works as a credit analyst for Hewlett-Packard.

 

Steven Hill JD ‘93 was appointed partner at the Vancouver, Washington, law office of Miller Nash in April. Hill, who has been with the firm since 1993, concentrates his practice on admiralty, environmental, real estate, and land-use law.

 

Geoffry Hooker ‘93 runs companies specializing in sports retail, sports manufacturing, plant hiring, and property development. He lives in Perth, Australia, with his wife, Nicky.

 

Bradley Kennedy ‘93 took a litigation associate position at Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith in San Francisco in 2002. He and his wife, Rebecca Irwin Kennedy ‘94, have two boys.

 

Monya Lemery ‘93 is assistant director of the international Degree Program at Oregon State University. She and her husband, Erasto Provisor Martinez, live in Corvallis with their daughter.

 

Carolyn Keck Price ‘93 runs an association management firm. She says she and her husband, Joel, both enjoy the independence of self-employment.

 

Adam Rittenberg JD ‘93, a real estate lawyer and estate planner, has joined the Portland office of Black Helterline as a partner.

 

Erica Schafer ‘93 lives in Santa Cruz, California, and is close to earning her master’s degree in counseling psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto. She is a counseling intern at an elementary school and the human resources manager at Montalvo Arts Center.

 

Malik Wickramanayake ‘93 heads HSBC Holding’s Network Service Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He married Shanika Seneviratne in 2000.

 

1994

Johanna Sears Ahn MEd ‘94 has moved to Vancouver, British Columbia.

 

Debra Barriger JD ‘94 is now deputy county counsel in San Diego, where she handles child abuse and neglect cases in juvenile court. She and her husband, Jeff, share their San Diego home with their two cats, two Australian shepherds, and a lizard.

 

Marianne Brams JD ‘94 is past chair of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants.

 

Danielle Culpepper ‘94 received her PhD in history from the University of Virginia in 2002 and became a visiting assistant professor of history at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in August 2003.

 

Michael Dexter ‘94 is a system administrator and managing director of the Latvian Open Source Association.

 

Ryan Farr ‘94 was recently named the corporate reliability manager for Ash Grove Cement Company. He moved back to Portland in 2003.

 

Erika Foin ‘94 joined a composers’ collective in Boston in 1998 after completing a master’s degree program in music composition at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She is an active composer and performer.

 

Todd Glass JD ‘94 has been elected shareholder at Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe. He has represented public utilities and other energy industry participants since 1996.

 

Brian Humphreys ‘94 is completing follow-on training for his commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a freelance journalist in Russia until he enlisted in the Marines in 2000.

 

James “Jay” Jackson ‘94 is finance director for a rapidly expanding health care group in Budapest.

 

Shahzeb Jillani ‘94 is the BBC World Service Radio’s desk editor for its Urdu broadcast, which has some 13 million listeners in South Asia and others on the internet. He is producing and presenting a weekly series on the lives of Muslims and Pakistanis in the United States after 9/11.

 

Marie Kelleher ‘94 completed her doctorate in medieval history in 2002 and is an assistant professor of history at California State university at Long Beach.

 

Amy Neal ‘94 lives in Yakima, Washington. She is busy with family, gardening, the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs, a book club, and friends.

 

Stacey Nichols ‘94 has been an editor in the educational publishing industry and a freelance translator for four years. Before earning a graduate degree in French/ English translation and interpretation at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, she spent three years in the Peace Corps in Gabon, central Africa.

 

Bree Urie Prince ‘94 lives with her husband, Frank, on the San Francisco peninsula. Now a real estate agent, she once worked at a German-owned software company and led Pacific Northwest bicycle tours. She lived in Munich for a year after graduating from the College.

 

Robert Wilson ‘94 traveled to Scotland last summer to observe the north-latitudinal distribution shift of palearctic birds.

 

1995

Patrick Balducci ‘95 is a research economist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington. He is finishing an M.S. in applied environmental economics from the University of London, researching energy and transportation economics for PNNL, and serving as an adjunct professor of economics at Columbia Basin College. He has two children, Hannah and Anthony, and lives with them and their mother, Kimberly.

 

Matthew Couch ‘95 and Dawn Elmer Couch ‘96 married in 2001 and live in Seattle. Matt earned an M.BA specializing in international management and works for a family real estate investment firm.

 

Grant Crosby ‘95 lives in Anchorage, Alaska, and works for the National Park Service as a historical architect. He earned his master’s degree in historical preservation from the University of Oregon in 2001.

 

Kelly Davis Garrett ‘95 completed a clinical psychology internship in neuropsychology at Brown University in 2002.

 

Cable Green ‘95 earned his PhD in communication technology from Ohio State University and is now director of educational technology for the College of Pharmacy at Ohio State.

 

Monica Lewinsky ‘95 hosted Mr. Personality, a spring 2003 reality program for Fox Broadcasting. She is a designer of handbags and accessories.

 

Colleen McMullen JD ‘95 has been promoted to partner at Miller Nash, where she has worked since 1995. She focuses on business and corporate matters.

 

Christopher Olson ‘95 is a PhD candidate in ecology and evolutionary biology at Iowa State University. He studies the breeding biology and ecological physiology of birds with the support of a National Science foundation doctoral dissertation improvement grant. He has researched avian communities in California, Arizona, Argentina, and Mexico.

 

Beth Powers ‘95 lives in Pasadena, California, and works in both HIV and substance abuse recovery. She used to manage a needle exchange in Hollywood and Los Angeles’ skid row. She still sings and writes for fun and spends at least a week in the Northwest every year for serenity.

 

Kristin Smith Rueber ‘95 works in the tech industry, focusing on e-commerce and high-level client support. She and her husband, Scott, married in 1998 and moved to the New York/Connecticut area in July 2003. They have three awesome dogs.

 

Anthony Vivirito ‘95 has been living and working in Boston since graduating from Lewis & Clark. In fall 2003, he took his architectural licensing exams.

 

Kevin Wasbauer ‘95 sailed around the world for a few years and got sick of it, worked at Wells Fargo and hated it, and found graduate school wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. But, he says, fund-raising at Stanford University is cool!

 

1996

David Aman ‘93, JD ‘96 works with Jefferson High School as part of the classroom Law Project’s high school mock trial competition. Aman is also a partner at Tonkon Torp.

 

Ever Carradine ‘96 plays Theresa Phillips on FX Network’s television series Lucky. She has acted in films including My Boss’s Daughter and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and on television shows such as Once and Again and Party of Five.

 

Dawn Elmer Couch ‘96 is pursuing her PhD in geography at the University of Washington. She is married to Matthew Couch ‘95.

 

Justin Delaney JD ‘96 has been promoted by Standard Insurance Company to second vice president, assistant general counsel, and assistant secretary. He continues to oversee legislative and regulatory affairs for the company, while also providing legal services to Standard’s office of general counsel and board of directors.

 

Philip Duong ‘96 is a first-year law student at Lewis & Clark Law School.

 

Justin Francis ‘96 is completing his master’s degree in fine arts in film production at the New York University Graduate Film Program. He directed a short film for the New York City Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre, and broadcasting titled Beyond the Skyline, which featured such actors as Harvey Keitel, Jerry Orbach, and Whoopi Goldberg discussing why they like to film in the city.

 

Genevieve Gorder ‘96 is a designer on the TLC seriesTrading Spaces. In addition to Lewis & Clark, she attended the School of Visual Arts in New York, earning a degree in graphic/3D design. She’s worked in Amsterdam, Netherlands; Barcelona, Spain; and New York City.

 

James Gregory JD ‘96 announces the opening of Raivio, Kohlmetz & Gregory, a law firm that focuses on criminal defense and plaintiff-side civil litigation.

 

Cara Giacomini Lane ‘96 earned her PhD in English and textual studies from the University of Washington. Last summer, she taught for a month in Rome through the university’s honors program. She is this year’s acting instructor for the university’s English department.

 

Jung Nam ‘96 graduated from dental school at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001, and then returned to South Korea for National Army duty. In June 2003, he returned to the United States for a residency program at the University of Washington.

 

Lesley Parker ‘96 completed her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Ohio State University and now practices veterinary medicine.

 

Matthew “Matt” Simms ‘96 guides fly-fishing trips near Missoula, Montana, and is pursuing a position teaching art in the area.

 

Hollie Teal ‘96 ran in the Portland Marathon and began her first year in pre-med study through Portland State University’s postbaccalaureate program.

 

1997

Penney Alldredge ‘97 took her master’s degree in sociology from the University of California at Davis in June 2003.

 

Matthew Artz ‘97 has returned to the United States after living in the United Kingdom for two years.

 

Preston Crawford ‘97 lives in Portland with his wife, Bonnie Tompkins Crawford ‘98, and their four lovely cats. He is a computer programmer.

 

Darren Drabek ‘97 works at Skidmore College as associate director of admissions and lives in Saratoga Springs, New York.

 

Jennifer DeShirley Evans ‘97 completed her master’s degree in American and English studies and Neuere deutsche Literatur at Humboldt University in Berlin. Her thesis was titledReconstructing Motherhood: The Figure of the Slave in Harriet Jacobs’ Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl (1861) and Toni Morrison’s Beloved (1987). She lives in Berlin with her husband, Lee, and daughter, Elisabeth, 4.

 

Vicki Gettings ‘97 taught for two years in Malaysia and now lives in Wisconsin with her fiance, Amir Salim.

 

Jennifer Hambleton ‘97 was an intern on the small arms nonproliferation team of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, a nongovernmental organization, last summer in Geneva. She began graduate coursework in international policy studies at the Monterey Institute for international Studies in 2002 and will finish this year.

 

Jake Jelineo ‘97 was promoted to the rank of captain and upgraded to the position of aircraft commander in the U.S. Air Force. He has returned to the states after 10 months in southwest Asia, where he took part in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom as a C-130 Hercules pilot.

 

Samuel Jordan ‘97 is director of special education services at a charter school in Jersey City, New Jersey.

 

Stefanie Paulson Kingston ‘97 lives in Portland with her husband, Miles. They are busy with their cat and two boxers.

 

Kathleen Mertz ‘97 is historic compliance coordinator at Presidio Trust, a federal agency that oversees preservation of the Presidio in San Francisco. She has been with the trust for about a year and a half, and reports that life is good.

 

Sandra Miner ‘97 lives in Portland and manages Web sites for a nonprofit agency in Santa Cruz, California. Previously she worked at the San Francisco Chronicle. She has two dogs.

 

Timothy Orr ‘97 has plunged into graduate studies in history at the University of California at Davis.

 

David Ruderman ‘97 started studies at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law in fall 2003.

 

Toshinobu Toyama ‘97 serves on the board of the Lewis & Clark Alumni Association’s Japan chapter.

 

Kris Woodburn JD ‘97, a Josephine County deputy district attorney, was elected to his first term on the Grants Pass City Council.

 

1998

Lori Clark MAT ‘98 received a Trail Blazer Award for High Performing Schools in May 2003 on behalf of Portland’s Rigler Elementary School, where she is principal.

 

Jeremy Davit ‘98 has lived in Miami for two years. He works as a guide for the Deering Estate at Cutler, a small nature and historical park, while completing a graduate degree in hospitality management with a focus on ecotourism. He likes to scuba dive, sail, and kayak around the Florida Keys.

 

Jeffrey Flowers ‘98 lives in Manila, the Philippines, with his wife and daughter. He played professional basketball for three years and is now a consultant.

 

Andrew Franklin ‘98 is at the University of Oklahoma, completing his dissertation on the energy industry in the 1920s and the industry’s scientific and public policy effects on conservation. He is secretary of the university’s Graduate Student Senate. Franklin earned his master’s degree in history from California State University at Sacramento.

 

Megan Harris ‘98 is teaching fourth grade in Portland for the second year. Before earning her master’s degree in teaching, she performed with numerous theatre companies and lived in London for a while. She still appears on stage occasionally and hopes to start a theatre class at her school.

 

Ellen Hawes JD ‘98, an attorney at Stoel Rives, has been awarded a public service award from the Oregon State Bar’s New Lawyers Division. She was honored for her work as chair of the pro bono subcommittee of the Pro Bono Challenge.

 

Laurie Malkin ‘98 earned her master’s degree in social work from Boston University and is a child and family mental health clinician. She lives in Buffalo, New York, with her husband.

 

Alyson Smith ‘98 works for Powder Mountain Press in Driggs, Idaho, where she does advertising sales and writing. She relishes the time she spends skiing in the Tetons.

 

Bonnie Tompkins-Crawford ‘98 is a commercial marketing analyst for General Electric.

 

John Wilhelmi MAT ‘98 was one of two alumni from Lewis & Clark’s Graduate School of Education to receive a Portland Schools Foundation Excellence in Education Award in May 2003. He accepted the award for work done by the ninth-grade teaching team at Portland’s Marshall High School, where he is principal.

 

Nadine Wolff ‘98 entered a PhD program in mathematical biology in 2002 at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She took a yearlong leave of absence to be a full-time math instructor at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

 

1999

Miho Bessho ‘99 works in the accounting section of a college in Osaka, Japan.

 

Steve Bruno ‘99 directs humanitarian aid shipments to developing countries as material assistance program manager for Lutheran World Relief, an international nonprofit. He occasionally visits Africa and Asia to see the results of his work in the field. Bruno is working on his master’s degree in public policy at the University of Maryland at Baltimore County.

 

John Cornet ‘99 teaches high school social studies and is an athletic coach in southern Oregon.

 

Molly Freeland Cyr ‘99 has moved from Charlottesville, Virginia, to Palo Alto, California, with her husband and daughter.

 

Christopher Dorr JD ‘99 has joined the Portland office of Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt. His practice focuses on product litigation.

 

Benjamin Kalm ‘99 graduated from Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in June 2003. In July, he started his pediatrics residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Megan Retherford Murillo ‘99 lives in Denver with her husband, Sergio. She owns a photography studio and is working toward becoming an elementary school teacher for children who speak only Spanish.

 

Jon “Chris” Stringer ‘99 lives in Bend, where he develops software and Web sites and runs his own online ski and board shop.

 

Jeremy Vlach ‘99 received the title investment management specialist from the consulting group of Smith Barney, for his achievements within the managed money and financial services arena. Vlach works at the Bend branch of Smith Barney and is a financial consultant with the firm’s private client group.

 

Kenneth Westin ‘99 is the Web manager for Pacific University. He and his wife, Sohyun, have been married for three years. They met when Westin studied in Sapporo, Japan.

 

Davis Yee JD ‘99 has received the 2003 Bert W. Levit Essay Award, an annual contest focusing on lawyers’ professional liability. The competition is sponsored by Long & Levit and the American Bar Association.
