1990

Zena BA, MAT ’95 was honored with two teaching awards: the Rex Rabold Award for Excellence in Theatre Education (given by the Oregon Theatre Educators’ Association) and the Educational Theatre Association’s Exemplary High School Theatre Program Award. A longtime teacher, Zena recently finished her seventh year at Portland’s Parkrose High School. She currently serves as treasurer of the Oregon Thespians and president of the Oregon Theatre Educators’ Association.

1993

Arts & Sciences Reunion June 20-23, 2012

Kristin Keith BA, an English major, worked as a closing clerk for Tower Books shortly after graduation. She is now the mid-Atlantic sales representative for W.W. Norton & Company. Keith also serves on the New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association advisory committee.

1994

Aleya Dao BA became a licensed acupuncturist in Colorado and a minister in California after earning a master’s degree in Oriental medicine from the Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is currently a sound healer, energy practitioner, doctor of Oriental medicine, and spiritual guide. She performs meditation toning concerts around the country.

1996

Jeffrey Tharsen BA received a Fulbright award to spend 2012–13 conducting research at Fudan University in Shanghai. Jeffrey, Laura Tharsen BA ’97, and their two children will live there through summer 2013. They would welcome visits from any friends of Lewis & Clark.

1998

Murray Cizon BA joined the International Living Future Institute as its education and training coordinator in October 2011. He coordinated the Living Future 2012 unConference held in May 2012 in Portland. More than 950 leading architects, engineers, designers, and urban planners in the sustainable/green-building movement attended. Cizon was particularly excited to book eco-feminist Vandana Shiva as the Living Future 2012 keynote speaker. Kartikey Shiva BA ’03 is her son. Vandana has hosted participants in Lewis & Clark’s overseas study program to India at her seed bank/organic farm, Navdanya. Cizon and his 5-year-old daughter live in the Division/Clinton area of Portland and do their best to “keep things real.” Jennifer Cox Cyphers BA lives in Denver “with two freakin’ funny little blonde kids and my husband of 10 years.” She recently launched a new technology company “because I’m a masochist. No, really. It’s fun.” She misses Portland.

1999

Oscar Leeper BA completed an M.BA from Portland State University in June 2012.
