Lewis & Clark is one of the top producers of Fulbright award winners in the country, with the third-highest acceptance rate among liberal arts colleges.
In January, the Institute of International Education congratulated Lewis & Clark President Barry Glassner and Fulbright campus advisor Deborah Heath for “helping to promote the Fulbright Program’s goals of fostering leadership and increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.”
In national rankings published by the Chronicle of Higher Education, Lewis & Clark is tied for 17th among liberal arts institutions for the total number of Fulbright awards offered to students for 2012-13.
Forty percent of Lewis & Clark Fulbright applicants received awards, an acceptance rate exceeding that of Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Amherst, and Williams, among other highly ranked colleges and universities.
Eight Lewis & Clark seniors earned Fulbright awards for 2012-13, with a ninth receiving an award administered by Austria’s Fulbright program. Learn more about the recipients.
Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright Program provides grants to students and professionals for the opportunity to do graduate study or research or to teach at the elementary to the university level in countries all around the world.
Since 2007, Lewis & Clark students and young alumni have received 42 Fulbright awards to teach and research everywhere from Austria to Thailand.
