Law Grads Successful in November Elections

Several L&C Law school graduates were elected to office on November 6th

November 6th saw a number of Lewis & Clark Law School graduates elected to positions ranging from the Oregon state legislature, to statewide executive offices, and state judicial positions. 

Earl Blumenauer was re-elected to serve his ninth term in the United States House of Representatives.  Kate Brown, ‘85, was re-elected Oregon’s Secretary of State, and Brad Avakian, ‘90, was re-elected Oregon’s Labor Commissioner.  In the judiciary, Richard Baldwin, ‘75, was elected to the Oregon State Supreme Court, after serving as a circuit court judge for many years, and Jennifer DeLaney, ‘02, was elected to the New Mexico district court. Three law grads were elected to the Oregon state legislature.  Cliff Bentz, ‘77, Mike McLane, and Shemia Fagen, ‘90 were all elected to the Oregon house of representatives.  Although not up for re-election this time, alum Betsey Johnson, ‘77, serves in the Oregon senate.
