Passages: Pete Vlahos Funeral Service

Pano “Pete” Vlahos passed away on Saturday, December 1st after a batter with cancer. A service will be held at 11 a.m. this Wednesday, December 5, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 3131 NE Glisan Street here in Portland.
Pete was born in Portland, Oregon, to Tom and Marina Vlahos and was married to his wife Jan for 48 years. His parents emigrated from Greece, and Pete was born in Portland where he was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He served as Director of Cultural Events and an Associate Dean of Students for 30 years at Lewis and Clark College where he was known and loved by generations of students, faculty and staff.
Pete had a full heart and spirit with a passion for bringing people together. He loved life, laughter, community and family, directing choirs, teaching Greek folk dancing and volunteering for political and social causes with a special passion for the arts. He served on the boards of RACC, ORS, Alzheimer’s Association, and others.
Pete is survived by his wife Jan, son Tom and his wife Amy, daughter Marnie and her husband Erik, sister Katherine, nephew Tommy and four grandsons, Matthew, Alex, Jack and Nicholas.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Fr. Elias Stephanopoulos Memorial Fund, Lewis & Clark College or the Hellenic American Cultural Center & Museum.
