Lewis & Clark invites you to a week-long celebration commemorating the movement of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year’s theme is Bending Towards Justice. You will see around you opportunities to contribute to the greater discussion and share what Bending Towards Justice means to you. Look for these opportunities around campus.
The celebration begins Monday, January 21 at 7 p.m. in Council Chamber. We will screen Dr. King’s speech “I Have a Dream” and have a silent march to the Chapel where we will have jazz musician Devin Phillips perform.
On Tuesday, January 22 in Stamm, we will focus on the importance of making a change through service and volunteer work. The focus of Tuesday is rooted on Dr. King’s message, “Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve”.
Wednesday, January 23 at 7 p.m. in Stamm there will be a faculty panel discussion around the topic of a just environment. Each panelist will contribute their frame of expertise to the topic of a just environment, and the implications on the community.
We will conclude our celebration with a workshop facilitation on Thursday, January 24 at 7 p.m. in Stamm. We will focus on how we impact our community and what we can do to move towards justices.
