Leading the Way

President Glassner shares his vision through writing, outreach, strategic planning.

President Barry Glassner has been busy building partnerships, communicating his ideas and plans, and strengthening ties with alumni and friends across the globe. 

Providing leadership

Appearing in national media outlets from USA Today to the Los Angeles Times and Washington Post, Glassner’s commentaries tackle some of the biggest issues of the day in higher education and beyond. In his most recent pieces, Glassner emphasizes the importance of international education and—in partnership with Northwestern University’s president, Morton Schapiro—reflects on the challenges and rewards of being a modern-day leader in The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Building on our strengths

In January, Lewis & Clark launched the implementation of The Journey Forward: A Lewis & Clark Strategic Plan for 2020.Under Glassner’s leadership, more than 70 faculty, staff, and students crafted a plan that will expand Lewis & Clark’s impact and influence regionally, nationally, and globally over the next decade. 

Making connections

With nationally recognized overseas study programs and students from 66 countries on campus, Lewis & Clark has strong connections with communities around the world. In November 2012, Glassner visited China, Korea, and Japan to deepen ties with alumni and build new relationships with local leaders.
