Kayla Mohs Fioravanti BA and her husband sold their company, Essential Wholesale, and moved to Franklin, Tennessee. She now devotes her time to writing and has published four books in the past year: When I was Young I Flew the Sun Like a Kite (a book of poetry); The Art, Science, and Business of Aromatherapy; How to Make Melt & Pour Soap Base from Scratch; and DIY Kitchen Chemistry. Her books are available in paperback and Kindle versions on Amazon and via other online booksellers.

Michael Healey BA, an employment and personal injury attorney, lives in Minneapolis and works across the river in St. Paul. He and his wife, Karina Milosovich, have two daughters: Harriet, 6, and Lucy, 2. He writes, “I was thrilled to come out to Portland last April to give warm wishes to recently retired Professor of Theatre Stephanie Arnold and to catch up with a number of great friends from Lewis & Clark. The memories, friends, skills, and education the Lewis & Clark community gave to me are immeasurable. Hope to be back soon for another visit!”

Paul Stamnes JD was promoted to vice president of Plum Creek Timber’s tax department in Seattle. He oversees tax planning, legislative affairs, and compliance functions.

Nicole Wirth BS has been a social worker for the past 20 years and was recently promoted to associate program director of the Oregon State Hospital’s Portland campus program.

1992

Barry Needleman JD was named Concord’s Lawyer of the Year 2013 for Environmental Law by The Best Lawyers in America. He is an attorney with McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton in Concord, New Hampshire. Needleman currently represents Irving Oil, defending claims brought by the State of New Hampshire regarding methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) contamination.

Beth Anne Pratt BA and her family moved back to Kampala, Uganda, after six years in Zambia.

Davina Pujari JD was named a 2012 Northern California Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine. She is a partner with Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp in San Francisco. Pujari also has been named cochair of the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section White-Collar Crime Committee’s Northern California Regional Subcommittee.

Jacquelyn Crace-Murray BA lives in Colorado and works as an English acquisition instructor at two elementary schools for the Poudre School District. She is applying to a PhD program at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks, where she will study the language of initial literacy instruction and dual-language instruction as well as their effect on native language preservation. Her research will focus on the Yup’ik Eskimo peoples of southwest Alaska and the dual-language instruction program of the Lower Kuskokwim School District and possibly some rural native groups on the isles of Hawai‘i.

In addition, Crace-Murray started TREK 49, an excursion company that offers tundra-level, local-flavor summer excursions around Alaska. This summer is its pilot year. “All in all, life is good and I am very thankful—especially for my children, Jake and Betsy (11 and 9), and my husband, Steve, who light up every day!”

Geoff Hooker BS and his wife, Nicky, have two children: Zoe, 5, and Zac, 3. Although retired since 2004, Nicky retains the Australian record for open women’s triple jump. Hooker notes, “My baseball team, the Perth Heat, has been national champions four of the last five years. Life is good.” He enjoys living in his hometown of Perth but is concerned “it’s getting too crowded here.”

Gregory Moawad JD is the president of the Multnomah Bar Association. He is the director of public safety at Oregon Health & Science University and was formerly a Multnomah County deputy district attorney.

Steven Shropshire JD is serving a three-year term as a board director for the Multnomah Bar Association. He is a shareholder with Jordan Ramis in Portland.

1995

Stephen Pidgeon JD wrote a new book, The Obama Error. He is an author of both fiction and nonfiction, the founder of several technology companies, an inventor, a student of theology and philosophy, a pianist, a guitarist, a vocalist, and a composer of music. Pidgeon is also the founder and director of DecaLogos International, and has written numerous treatises on the Midrash Halakha and what he calls “the Torah Redeemed.” He practices law in the state of Washington.

Katherine Somervell JD was named an Oregon 2012 Super Lawyer by Oregon Super Lawyers Magazine. She is a shareholder at Bullivant Houser Bailey.

1996

Scott Kerin JD received the Prosecutor of the Year award from the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Association of Oregon in recognition of his support, dedication, and contributions to federal law enforcement in the District of Oregon. He is the award’s first recipient.

Doug Morris JD was elected to Ater Wynne’s management committee. He is a partner with the firm.

James Neu JD was elected to the Roaring Fork Business Resource Center’s board of directors in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. An attorney and partner of Karp Neu Hanlon, he has more than 15 years of experience in the legal industry.

Joshua Sasaki J.D was named to the 2013 Best Lawyers in America List. He is a partner in Miller Nash’s business litigation practice group in Portland.

Zeke Smith BA was recognized as one of Portland Business Journal’s 40 under the age of 40 for 2013. Smith works as the chief impact officer at the United Way. Melia Tichenor BA ’07, a program manager with Hands On Greater Portland noted: “Zeke is my department head at United Way and has earned my respect as a charismatic, thoughtful, and inspiring leader since my organization merged with the United Way’s Community Impact department back in October of last year. He’s an awesome fellow.”

1997

Rachel Gernat JD was appointed by Alaska Governor Sean Parnell to the state’s Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. The council provides planning and coordination of services to victims of domestic violence or sexual assault and their families, as well as to perpetrators, and provides crisis intervention and prevention programs. Gernat is an associate attorney with the law offices of Kenneth Goldman.

Brett Egusa JD was named deputy associate chief counsel in the Office of Chief Counsel for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He is responsible for managing the newly minted Procurement and Fiscal Law Division. He has been heavily involved in supporting Hurricane Sandy operations.

Kimberley McGair JD was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Ski Areas Association for her contributions to the ski resort industry. McGair, a member of the Association of Ski Defense Attorneys, is a shareholder with Farleigh Wada Witt in Portland.

Michele Stone JD was recognized as a 2012 Rising Star in Oregon Super Lawyers. She is of counsel with Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf.

1999

Nathan Fey BA recently received the Partner in Conservation Award from U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar for his work assisting the Bureau of Reclamation’s Colorado River Basin Water Supply and Demand Study. Fey and his staff developed a quantitative metric for assessing impacts on riverbased recreation, from projected imbalances in water supply and demand in the seven-state Colorado River basin.

Heather Guthrie JD was named to the 2012 Five-Star Professional List in Estate Planning by Portland Monthly. She is a partner with Dunn Carney.

Miel Hendrickson BA lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband, James. She travels often to Africa and beyond. She was recently promoted to development innovations specialist with International Medical Corps.

Joshua Husbands JD was elected fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Council. He is a partner in the Portland office of Holland & Knight.

Ken Westin BA was recognized as one of Portland Business Journal’s 40 under the age of 40 for 2013. Westin is CEO of ActiveTrak, which produces GadgetTrak, a software application designed to help recover mobile electronic devices and the data stored on them.
