Women’s soccer forward Emily Thompson ’16 scored big this summer—the talented player earned a spot on the Westside Timbers 2013 roster.

“It is really valuable for my soccer career because it gives me the opportunity to both practice and compete at a high level with talented players,” Thompson said. “It’s a good way for me to keep my fitness up for the upcoming college season, and it gives me the opportunity to keep playing over the summer.”

The Westside Timbers, part of the Portland Timbers Football Club Alliance, play within the Women’s Premier Soccer League. The goal of the organization is to develop and promote women’s soccer nationwide.

In the fall of 2012, Thompson helped to lead the women’s soccer team to fourth place in the Northwest Conference (NWC), their best finish since 1985. Thompson earned NWC First Team honors.
