NCAA Award Winners

Tamma Carleton BA ’09 and Lindsay Nixon BA ’09 excel both academically and athletically.

Tamma Carleton BA ’09,  an economics major and varsity cross country athlete, has won a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Carleton competed for the award with student-athletes from Division I, II, and III institutions. The NCAA awards these scholarships based on athletic and academic achievements, as well as campus involvement, community service, volunteer activities, and demonstrated leadership. In addition, Lewis & Clark named Carleton the 2009 Judy McMullen Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Lindsay Nixon BA ’09, an economics major and a record-breaking swimmer, has been chosen as the 2009 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. Voted on by the conference’s senior woman administrators, Nixon will represent Lewis & Clark and the NWC among other female senior student-athletes from conferences throughout Divisions I, II, and III. The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service, and leadership. Nixon also received the 2009 Pioneer Athletic Club Outstanding Senior Career Award.
