Cemetery Entrance - Next week the contractor plans to begin building the new entrance to Riverview Cemetery which will line up with the new bridge. Currently, the entrance is south of the bridge. During this work, the cemetery funeral home will still be accessible from its current entrance south of the bridge. However, the road within the cemetery will be closed just above the funeral home. Unfortunately, this work in a very steep area will also close the trail that bicyclists and pedestrians use in the cemetery.
From August 7 through September, trail users will need to use an alternate route. To the north, the westside trail and Taylors Ferry Road lead to the north entrance to the cemetery road network. To the south, Hwy. 43 leads to SW Palatine Hill Road and destinations such as Lewis & Clark College.
Eastside Concrete Pour August 8 - Truck deliveries are scheduled from 5 a.m. until about 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 8 for the next big concrete pour for a river pier foundation. Concrete trucks will enter from SE Spokane St. and SE Oaks Park Way. A “No parking” zone will be set up on Spokane between 6th Ave. and Oaks Park Way during the pour. Flaggers will direct traffic to ensure local access is maintained.
Taylors Ferry/Macadam Trail Detour - The north pedestrian crossing of Macadam Ave. at Taylors Ferry Rd. closed today, due to construction of a U-turn for northbound Macadam traffic. Pedestrians can cross Macadam westbound at SW Nevada St. and follow Macadam’s east sidewalk to Taylors Ferry. The crosswalk at Taylors Ferry will reopen at the end of the project.
Hwy. 43 Lane Closures - The outside southbound lane of Hwy. 43 remains closed weekdays (except from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.) between SW Taylors Ferry Road and the project limits south of the bridge while the contractor excavates the hillside west of the highway. On work days the contractor also closes a northbound lane from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. between the bridge and Freeman Motors.
