Sierra magazine has named Lewis & Clark one of its top 20 “Cool Schools,” a list that honors America’s greenest colleges and universities.

From classes in environmental studies to student-run gardens, Lewis & Clark integrates sustainability at every level. This commitment helped move Lewis & Clark up three places on this year’s Sierra Club list of 162 colleges and universities, from No. 22 in 2012 to No. 19 in 2013.

The Sierra Club rankings are based on surveys that track categories including energy supply, water usage, food, research, purchasing, transportation, waste management, financial investments, and innovation.
