H1N1 Update for 9/28/09
On Friday, September 25, the Piolog (the Lewis & Clark student-run newspaper) reported the following statistics in a section devoted to college humor:
Number of people at Lewis & Clark who have Swine Flu – 9
Number of people at Lewis & Clark who have died of Swine Flu – 1
This information is not true. These statistics were intended as humor.
There have been no hospitalizations and no deaths among Lewis & Clark students due to the novel H1N1 virus. The Student Health Service continues to serve a handful of students each week who have flu-like symptoms, presumably H1N1. All cases have been mild, and all students have either recovered or are in the process of recovery.
Lewis & Clark Health Promotion and Wellness staff are in the process of reaching out to student Piolog staff to discuss how Piolog staff can support accurate messaging about the H1N1 situation in the future.
