IT Infrastructure Update
January 27, 2014
This past Fall, IT welcomed new Director of Infrastructure Trevor Dodson. Trevor graduated from California Lutheran University with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Information Systems, and holds a degree blending Business Administration and Computer Science. His IT career has spanned several industries including healthcare and manufacturing, as well as 5 years managing the IT department at Patagonia headquarters in Ventura CA. A self-professed outdoorsman, Trevor enjoys camping and is an avid water-skier and fisherman. He and his family appreciate all Oregon has to offer and enjoys taking the RV out as often as possible to explore the state.
The Infrastructure (NATS) team is also excited to hire our first ever Senior Systems Administrator this Spring. This person will help us architect and engineer infrastructure solutions which are designed with service and high-availability in mind.
One of our main areas of focus for the year will be centered on availability and performance of our wireless infrastructure. Our goal is to upgrade some of our current access points, create a highly available architecture, find “dead-zones” and address them with additional coverage.
Another big project for the team will be the introduction of a Voice Over IP (or VOIP) system. This will replace our aging analog telephone system. There are many benefits to this new solution including maintenance, support, and added features of VOIP systems. Stay tuned for more information as this project gets closer to implementation.
