Kristin Asai ’10 joined the litigation firm Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf following a two-and-a-half-year judicial clerkship with the Honorable Ancer L. Haggerty, U.S. District Court judge for the District of Oregon.

Sara Bateman ’10 took an in-house position with the high-tech company Electro Scientific Industries. 

Krista Evans ’10 joined Jordan Ramis as an associate. She has experience on a range of business issues, including corporate compliance, employment agreements, business financing, contract review and drafting, mergers and acquisitions, entity formation, intellectual property, and strategic alliances. Evans also has experience in a number of real estate matters in the areas of commercial leasing, easements, purchases, sales, and real estate financing.  

Marc C. Sanchez ’10 was named adjunct professor at Northeastern University, where he will teach part-time in the master’s program. Sanchez will lecture on regulatory topics, including U.S. and international food law and regulation. He also continues his practice representing FDA-regulated companies in the food, dietary supplement, beverage, cosmetic, medical device, and drug industries. 

Sarah Kutil ’11 is member of the Oregon and Washington State Bars. Her practice focuses on construction and development claims. She represents landowners, developers, and contractors in construction claims and contract disputes. 

Michael Tabata ’11 joined the affordable housing transactions group at Holland & Knight. His work involves advising clients on strategic planning issues, development and tax matters, transaction closings, and troubled projects. 

Molly Honoré ’12 was appointed to the board of the U.S. District Court of Oregon Historical Society. Honoré is a member of Tonkon Torp’s litigation department, where she handles contract, commercial, and real estate disputes, as well as civil rights and constitutional law matters. 

Rohit Kapuria ’12 joined Klasko, Rulon, Stock & Seltzer as an associate and member of its EB-5 practice. Kapuria represents developers and investors who seek to use foreign investment capital under the EB-5 program to fund job-creating projects either through the creation of a regional center or under the auspices of an existing regional center. In this capacity, Kapuria works collaboratively with economists, business plan writers, securities attorneys, investment managers, and other professionals in preparing I-924 and I-526 petitions for filing with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Kellen Norwood ’12 joined the Portland office of Miller Nash as an associate. He will focus on supporting the firm’s educational institution clients through the firm’s employment and education law practices. 

Neil Taylor ’12 transitioned from his position as state labor relations manager to assistant attorney general in the Labor and Employment Section of the Oregon Department of Justice in November 2013. 

Laysan Unger ’12 joined Dunn Carney as a litigator. Her practice will focus on environmental, agricultural and insurance coverage litigation. As a fifth-generation cattle rancher, Unger brings specialized knowledge and understanding to Dunn Carney’s environmental and agricultural and natural resources practices. She was a law clerk at Dunn Carney from 2011 to 2013.

Brett Applegate ’13 joined Harrang Long Gary Rudnick as a litigation associate in its Portland office. Before graduating from law school, Applegate was a summer associate with Harrang Long Gary Rudnick in 2012 and served as a law clerk with the Oregon Department of Justice’s Trial Division in the Criminal and Collateral Remedies Litigation Section, where she assisted in litigation of Section 1983, federal habeas corpus, and state post-conviction cases. 

Rachel Atchison ’13 joined Tonkon Torp as an associate in the firm’s business department. Atchison served as a summer associate at Tonkon Torp for two consecutive years while a law student. At Lewis & Clark, she earned a Dean’s Scholarship and the Oregon State Bar Securities Section Scholarship, and was voted outstanding associate editor of the Environmental Law Review. She was active in the Asian/Pacific American Student Union and the Business Law Society. An accomplished musician, Atchison co-managed a Portland music store prior to attending law school. She has performed more than 400 concerts throughout the United States.  

J. Chris Duckworth ’13 joined Bullard Law as an associate, where he represents both public- and private-sector clients in labor and employment issues. 

Christopher Graves ’13 joined Gevurtz Menashe as an associate. He will handle family law matters in Oregon.

Timothy A. Lawson ’13 is an associate with Portland commercial law firm Greene & Markley. Lawson’s practice will focus on commercial litigation and bankruptcy. 

Emily Yeh ’13 joined Helsell Fetterman, a Seattle-based law firm. She is a past recipient of Helsell Fetterman’s Richard S. White Fellowship and was a summer associate at the firm in 2012. Yeh also completed internships with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and the Vancouver City Attorney’s Office. She currently works with Helsell Fetterman’s general civil litigation and land use practice groups. 

Jess Kincaid ’15 was recognized as one of NW Energy Coalition’s Four Under Forty honorees. Kincaid continues to serve as a senior policy analyst at the Oregon Department of Energy while in law school. The NW Energy Coalition is an alliance of more than 110 environmental, civic, and human service organizations; progressive utilities; and businesses in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and British Columbia. It promotes development of renewable energy and energy efficiency, consumer protection, low-income energy assistance, and fish and wildlife restoration on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.
