Remembering Tex

Tex, the big German Shepherd who was raised at the law school to be a therapy dog, passed away on June 25 from cancer.

Tex (The Texas Titan), the big German Shepherd who was raised at the law school to be a therapy dog, passed away on June 25, 2014 from cancer. He was a couple months shy of 12 years old.

Tex was usually seen next to the desk of his guardian Sara Chambers. Chambers is the switchboard operator and receptionist at the law school. Chambers coordinates therapy dog visits at the law school during finals week, with the Delta Society Pet Partners, an international organization that certifies therapy dogs and their handlers.

“Many people outside of the Law School campus knew him, as Administrative Coordinator Lisa Garcia would often walk him on her rounds for law business services,” Chambers said. “As people here let me know, he really was part of the law school family. They will sorely miss seeing his ginormous nose poking out under the swinging door behind the reception desk, and his one big floppy ear! He really enjoyed his visits with the students.”
