Richard “Dick” Geary

Richard “Dick” Geary, former member of Lewis & Clark’s Board of Trustees, died October 19, 2014, at age 79. After graduating from Stanford University with degrees in civil engineering, Geary spent his 41-year career in construction with Kiewit Pacific Company in the western United States and Canada. He progressed through a succession of management positions from engineer to president of Kiewit Pacific Company and in 1988 became a director of parent company Peter Kiewit Sons’ of Omaha, Nebraska. Geary held many leadership positions in the Portland nonprofit community, including trustee at Lewis & Clark from 2007 to 2009; trustee and past chair of the Oregon Health & Science University Foundation; trustee of the Oregon Symphony; and past director of the Portland Opera.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; four children; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
