New Look for Moodle

January 08, 2016

On January 11th, we’re unveiling a new look for Moodle. As you may have seen during our demo at the December Faculty Technology Showcase, the new theme features a slick, new design and easily resizes pages for easier viewing on mobile devices.

Some additional enhancements include a two column view to maximize web page area devoted to course content and activities. In this new theme, you may toggle blocks on and off with a single click using the “Show Blocks” toggle icon in the top right, which instantly provides more screen real estate. The default version of the theme has blocks docked on the right side of the screen. Alternatively, you may use a version of the theme with the blocks docked on the left side. This theme is entitled “LClarkL” and will be one of the alternate themes available under Course Administration > Edit Settings > Appearance.

If you still wish to use the old theme within your courses, it is listed as an alternate theme titled “lcc,” and will be available until Monday, May 9th. After that date, it will no longer be available for use.

For a preview, see this Sample Moodle course or visit the Moodle Resources page for more information.
