New Pioneers

Lewis & Clark welcomes new students to campus.

New Student Orientation is an exciting time at Lewis & Clark, with members of the Class of 2020 and new transfer students arriving on Palatine Hill from around the world.

President Barry Glassner, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Catherine Kodat, and Dean of Students Anna Gonzalez were on hand to greet the new students and assist with move-in. Numerous returning students, as well as faculty and staff volunteers clad in orange “Care Crew” T-shirts, also helped get the new Pios and their families situated.

During New Student Orientation, students become familiar with academic and cocurricular life at Lewis & Clark. Our programs and events help make the transition to college life as seamless as possible by introducing students to the campus environment, providing opportunities to meet classmates as well as faculty and staff, and equipping new Pioneers with the tools and resources necessary for success.

This year, the college is welcoming 564 first-year and transfer students. Five percent of the incoming Pios are international citizens, and 27 percent are U.S. students of color.
