H1N1 Update for 12/08/09

Vaccine clinic update

During the H1N1 vaccine clinic held on Dec 2nd, we were able to vaccinate nearly 400 individuals in roughly 4 hours.  Thank you to all the volunteers from L&C, the greater Portland community, and the Multnomah County Health Department.  Such a large undertaking could not have run as efficiently and effectively without the help of our volunteers.

According to local health officials, vaccine shipments to the state are still coming more slowly than expected.  We do not expect to have more vaccine before the winter break.  H1N1 vaccine that is received by the county is being distributed primarily to doctor’s offices and health care organizations.  We hope to have sufficient supplies to offer vaccines to a greater population during early spring semester 2010.   We are entirely dependent on public health officials for our supply of vaccine.

As a reminder, if you were unable to obtain an H1N1 vaccine at Lewis & Clark, please consider contacting your local health care provider, or getting vaccinated in your home community over Winter Break.  To locate a vaccine provider near you, contact your County Health Department.
