What is Adelante Mujeres?

Adelante Mujeres is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Forest Grove, Oregon. Founded in 2002 out of the resolve of a group of Latina women and their allies, Adelante Mujeres educates and empowers low-income Latina women and their families through holistic programs that ensure their full participation and active leadership in the community. Adelante Mujeres has been serving western Washington County for over 15 years and has worked with over 4,000 Latino families. The organization strives to continually evolve their education and enterprise opportunities to meet the various needs of low-income Latino families in our community. As the organization continues to grow, the programs and services have expanded to serve Latino youth, children, and men as well as women, especially through our microenterprise and agriculture services and the Forest Grove Farmers Market. Adelante Mujeres endeavors to strengthen Latino families as a whole because they believe a strong community requires the inclusion of everyone.

What is the Adelante Mujeres CSA?

Adelante Mujeres operates a Sustainable Agriculture program to provide training and sales outlets for Latino farmers who are starting or expanding their farm businesses. The organization purchases produce grown by participants, aggregates it and sells it through a Distributor and CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model. CSA is a program that allows community members to buy local vegetables and fruits from local farmers. The produce is distributed to members in weekly “shares,” which are purchased in advance of the beginning of the growing season. Purchasing a CSA share in the spring allows the farmers guaranteed sales throughout the season.

What types of shares are available, and how much does it cost?

The Adelante Mujeres CSA offers the following share types:

  • Standard Share: $360, weekly produce for 1-2 people for 18 weeks
  • Large Share: $540, weekly produce for 3-4 people for 18 weeks
  • Salsa Share: $90, weekly recipes and ingredients for salsa or hot sauce, 10 weeks, August - October
  • Please see the Adelante Mujeres website for more information and additional details about paying with SNAP (formerly known as food stamps).
What will I get each week?

A wide variety of produce, based on what is in season. Click here to see photos of sample Standard and Salsa shares.

When does it start and where do I pick up my share?

The first pick up day for Standard and Large Shares is Wednesday, June 21, and the first pick up day for Salsa Shares is Wednesday, August 16. There will be a conveniently located pick up location on the Lewis & Clark campus (exact location TBD). The pickup time will be confirmed, but it will most likely be 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.
