Peter Hurley BA ’90, a Portland police officer, is committed to protect and serve others by fighting for food safety. Motivated by a 2009 salmonella outbreak that sickened his 3-year-old son, Hurley has become a passionate advocate for food safety regulation. Hurley testified before Congress about the impact of lax safety standards and filed a civil suit against the company that produced the tainted crackers that sickened his son.
