L&C Undergraduate Admissions Viewbook Wins CASE Award

PubCom tied for silver with the University of Central Florida for the in-house print publication category.

This month, Lewis & Clark’s Office of Public Affairs and Communications (PubCom) took home a Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Circle of Excellence Award for its undergraduate admissions viewbook. This international awards program honors outstanding work in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising, and marketing at colleges, universities, independent schools, and affiliated nonprofits. PubCom tied for silver with the University of Central Florida for the in-house print publication category.

The CASE judges summarized the overall strengths of the viewbook with these comments:

This undergraduate viewbook is a beautiful publication with amazing photography. It has a fun theme, and Lewis & Clark captures a strong sense of self within the pages of the viewbook. Great energy in this piece!

“I’m so proud of having collaborated on a piece that clearly reflects Lewis & Clark’s personality. It means a lot to have the work recognized by CASE,” Director of Marketing and Communications Stacey Kim BA ’94 said.

The creation of this version of the viewbook began in early 2017, when the marketing team decided for the first time ever to handle the entire creative process in house. They started with “mood board” exercises, during which students, faculty, and staff shared what makes L&C distinctive to them. The team continued by creating an ever-expanding library of Community Profiles, in which students and staff tell their story.

In addition to producing print marketing materials for all three schools, PubCom leads the college’s strategic communication efforts for public relations, new mediainternal communications and The Chronicle alumni magazine.
