Urgent: Update Java plug-in!

  • News Image

Your Windows computer may be vulnerable to some nasty viruses, just by running an out-of-date version of a popular system program. If you are running a version of JRE (Java Runtime Environment) earlier than 1.6_17, you are susceptible to getting infected with fake AV malware.  No end-user interaction is required, as simply visiting a legitimate site while running an old JRE version will allow your computer to be compromised.

Update Java via the Java Control Panel:

  1. From the Start Menu, open the Control Panel
  2. Double Click on the Java Icon to access the Java Control Panel
  3. Select the Update tab
  4. Click on the Update Now button
  5. Ensure the AutoUpdates box is checked
  6. Uncheck (don’t install) the Yahoo! toolbar when offered

Systems Status

  • All systems are functioning normally.
