As Oregon prepares to select a new poet laureate, members of Lewis & Clark’s Special Collections staff reflect on Oregon’s literary history with OPB.

Poet Laureate Lawson Inada is stepping down this spring after serving two terms. Offering their expertise for OPB’s story, Jeremy Skinner, assistant archivist, Doug Erickson, head of special collections, and Paul Merchant, William Stafford archivist and special collections associate, shed light on Oregon’s unique literary traditions and the relevance of the poet laureate in the state.
